John Taffinder
John Taffinder is the Chief Executive Officer for Shoden Data Systems UK. In this role he is responsible for establishing the Company and developing and implementing its business plan. Taffinder’s goal is to build a thriving storage solutions business with emphasis on outstanding customer service and support.
With over 30 years' experience in the data storage industry, Taffinder’s expertise covers building and managing IT businesses across EMEA with an enviable record in meeting challenging revenue and profit targets.
Before joining Shoden UK, Taffinder spent 15 months as General Manager for 3PAR Europe, helping to set up the businesses in Germany, Poland, Italy and The Netherlands.
Prior to this role he spent over eight years as Executive Vice President EMEA for Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), one of the leading players in enterprise data storage. Following a time of significant change in the business in 2000, he oversaw the establishment of several new subsidiaries across EMEA in countries including Germany, Austria, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. At the time he also set up key partnerships in Eastern Europe, Russia, and in South Africa with Shoden Data Systems South Africa. During this time, Taffinder guided the business to over 100% revenue growth with record profits and a very healthy positive cash flow.
Prior to taking the helm at HDS EMEA, Taffinder had already spent 26 years with ITEL, National Advanced Systems (NAS) and the British Steel Corporation in numerous positions both in Europe and in the USA. These included a two-year tenure managing operations in Italy, leading a Peripherals Product Group in Europe, as European Financial Controller and launching new mainframe systems.
Taffinder holds an Honours degree in Government from the University of Essex and is a member of the Association of Chartered Management Accountants. In his spare time he enjoys music, golf and watching Chelsea FC win.
